Atleas was very excited to take on this project from Platinum Studios. However, one catch was that the site's launch had to coincide with the release of the first trailer for "Cowboys & Aliens" the major motion picture from Universal Studios. This gave Atleas five days to design, develop, and deploy the site that you see today. Through close collaboration with a very helpful client, Atleas met the deadline, and the site was a huge success.
As this site was a featured property of Platinum Studios, their desire was not only to feature it on their existing website, but give the property it's own "microsite". It features video, images, and contests related to the property, all in a self-contained website.
One of the most important facets of this site was that it be universally accessible from all platforms - not least of which being mobile platforms. Therefore, Atleas built it's design with mobile platforms in mind, while still adhering to the best practices for website development. The end result is a site that performs gracefully across all browser types, placing special emphasis on the rich graphics and images provided by Platinum Studios.
Because of Platinum's Studios strong relationship with the public and their fans, Social Media integration was an absolute must. Atleas integrated their Twitter and Facebook widgets throughout the site. Because Platinum Studios placed such a strong emphasis on these accounts, our design was focused on making sure they were in highly visible areas.
As Platinum Studios wanted to feature the various trailers for the "Cowboys & Aliens" motion picture, they needed a delivery mechanism that would work across browsers old and new, and platforms from desktop to mobile. By way of sophisticated javascript libraries, Atleas incorporates HTML5 compatible video for the most standards-compliant browsers, with Adobe Flash fallbacks for older, non-HTML5 browsers. What does this mean? There is a graceful degradation that happens seamlessly from browser to browser, platform to platform, to deliver consistently watchable streaming video to all viewers.
